Cocktails Made From Reposado Tequila That You Must Try!

Are you someone who enjoys shooting tequila or making cocktails with it on a regular basis? Well then, we have got some new and unique ideas for you to experiment with. If you are a frequent or occasional drinker of tequila, chances are you drink blanco tequila, as it is one of the most commonly drank tequilas. Sure, there is no problem with blanco, but you should also try reposado tequila.

Reposado translates to “rested” in Spanish. This tequila is known to be right in the middle of the road between long aged añejo and blanco, that is, it is aged in oak barrels for around two to twelve months. This ageing tends to mellow down the signature sharp bite of the tequila, without the flavour of the barrel-aged oak taking over the drink. A good reposado tequila tends to have a beautiful vegetal and quite a savory quality. And naturally, these features come out even more beautifully in cocktails made from reposado tequila.

The following are some of the three cocktails made from reposado tequila that you would love as a cocktail lover.

  • Reposado Perfect Manhattan:
Tequila has the tendency to have a bit of spice to it, so by playing with a bit of 100-proof rye, combined with both sweet as well as dry vermouth, we get an elegant Manhattan version with a real bite to the drink.
Take a mixing glass with some ice, and add one and a half ounces of reposado tequila, to begin with. Then combine half ounce of 100-proof rye, half an ounce of sweet vermouth and another half an ounce of the dry vermouth. To top it off, you can add 1 dash of Angostura bitters. Then keep stirring until the drink is well-chilled, pour it into your preferred cocktail glass and garnish with a big twist of lime peel and a thin peel of lemon.
  • Grapefruit and Rosemary:
It is known to almost everyone that reposado tequila tends to make a delicious and unique margarita. But what most people do not know is that it works great for more complex drinks and cocktails as well. And one of those complex drinks is this shaken cocktail made with grapefruit and rosemary, combined with Aperol, which brings out the drink’s herbaceous qualities.
Take a cocktail shaker with some ice in it, and add one and a half ounces of reposado tequila. To this, add a three-fourth ounce of grapefruit juice, one fourth ounce of fresh lime juice, three fourth ounce of Aperol, one fourth ounce of agave syrup, and finally one dash of orange bitters. Shake this mixture and pour it into your favourite glass with fresh ice. To finish it off, garnish the drink with a grapefruit slice and a big sprig of rosemary.

These were just two of the many cocktails you can and must try made from reposado tequila. So, enough with the same old blanco tequila, try some reposado tequila cocktails too.
